The Cas company, founded in Seveso in northern Italy in 1878, has a record of continuity that is almost unique in the lock industry. Managed for over a century by the Campi family, it has constantly kept pace with technological and industrial developments. Its initial customer base was the expanding furniture industry in Lombardy and it subsequently expanded into international markets. It has diversified its product portfolio to include not only its core business of furniture locks but also products for door and window closures.

At the beginning of the new millennium the company, which in the meantime had changed owners and name to become Open SpA, carried out a further diversification, investing in the development of innovative systems of access control.

In October 2004 the company was acquired by Serrature Meroni, enabling it to extend its presence in the market for electronic security systems, while at the same time bringing fresh energy and expertise to the core business of traditional locks for doors, dividing walls and the furniture industry.

The table below indicates the correspondence between the previous CAS product codes and the new codes used in the Serrature Meroni catalogue.
